SSC has published the exam dates for all the SSC exams that will take place in 2020. The preliminary exam of SSC CGL 2020 took place from March 3 to 9 March 2020. The combined Grdauate level exam of Tier II and Tier III is scheduled from June 22 to June 25 2020. Candidates preparing for this exam must go through the last SSC CGL Syllabus to assess their chances for this exam. A good knowledge of the SSC CGL syllabus and the exam pattern for Tier I, Tier II and Tier III exams is necessary to effectively prepare for this exam. SSC CGL Tier I

SSC CGL Tier II
Tier II The main exam will take place online and is an objective multiple choice exam. This year, the Tier II and Tier III exams will take place on the same day. Note
- Paper 4 – According to the SSC CGL Exam pattern, Finance & Economics section has a mark distribution of 80 and 120 summing up to 200 in total.
- Paper-I and Paper-II are compulsory for all posts.
- Paper-III will be for candidates applying for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and who are shortlisted in Tier-I for this Post/Paper.
- Paper-IV will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-IV, i.e., for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.
- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III and Paper-IV.
SSC CGL Tier-III Syllabus
- The SSC CGL 2020 Tier III exam is a descriptive exam intended to test the written skills of candidates in English / Hindi.
- This exam mode is offline (pen and paper mode).
- The students are required to write essays, precis, applications, letters, etc. .
- The Tier -III exam carries a total of 100 Marks and the time allotted to it is 60 minutes to complete the exam.
- The time allocated to candidates belonging to the PWD category is increased to 80 minutes.
- Tier III exam is given by specific candidates who are only interested in the position of “Grade II statistical Investigator” and “Compiler“.
- A deduction of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer is there in SSC CGL Tier-III

SSC CGL Syllabus for Tier IV
The SSC CGL Tier IV Exam comprises of certain data entry and computer proficiency skill tests that are required for certain government posts. Candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the examination (Tier I, II, III) can appear in the Tier IV Skill Test.
The syllabus for the SSC CGL Tier-IV exam is as follows:
DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax),DEST Exam through SSC CGL 2020 exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate. The candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on Computer. A candidate is required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes.
CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): Word Processing, Spread Sheets and Generation of slides are the three modules that are important for this exam and the commission demands a candidate to be proficient in it for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).
Points to note:
- Orthopedically Handicapped (OH) candidates for the post of Tax Assistant in CBDT need not appear for the skill test
- OH candidates opting for post of Tax Assistant in CBEC are required to attend the Skill Test.
