SBI PO Mains Syllabus
The syllabus of SBI PO for the Mains Exam has major four sections. All sections are based on Objective-type questions
- Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness
- English Language
The SBI PO Mains exam also includes a descriptive test. The descriptive test consists of two questions, a letter and an essay. Applicants must also obtain a passing score on the descriptive test to qualify for the main SBI PO exam.

This is the Last step in the selection of successful applicants who qualify the first two phases of the SBI PO exam. Applicants who pass all phases of the exam receive the SBI nomination letter stating membership formalities, date of membership, location of membership, etc.

Q 1. Is there any negative marking in the SBI PO exam ?
Ans. Yes, there is a negative marking for wrong answers in SBI PO prelims and mains exam. A penalty of 1/4 th marks for every wrongly answered question in both MCQ Papers.
Q 2. There is any sectional cut off for each section in SBI PO exam?
Ans. No, There is only an overall cut off will be considered for the selection of candidates.
Q 3. Is the marks scored in the SBI PO Prelims is considered for the final selection of Probationary Officers?
Ans. No, SBI PO preliminary exam is only qualifying exam and marks obtained in prelims will not be considered for the final selection. The final selection is based on the aggregate marks secured in the mains examination and the group discussion & interview.
Q 4. What is the salary for a Probationary Officer in SBI?
Ans. The initial basic salary for SBI PO is Rs. 27,620 in the scale of 23700 – 980/7- 30560 – 1145/2 – 32850 – 1310/7 – 42020. The total compensation is approximately is Rs. 8.20 lakhs to Rs. 13.08 lakhs.
